25/05/10: " Intrinsic motivation and engagement: the keys to superior business performance and competitive advantage " – Giovanni Paccaloni, Consultant
The 2010 SPE Italian Section YP Workshop took place at the farm “Agriturismo Cascina di Mezzo”. A group of 31 young professionals coming from different societies of the oil and gas industry (bjservices, chimec, eni, geolog, schlumberger) and from different disciplines (surface facilities, reservoir engineering, drilling, etc..) were present and they enjoyed the workshop giving a very positive feedback. This interactive workshop was aimed at inspiring the younger generation of workers to became actively engaged, to develop a passion for what they do and acquire the basic tools to became themselves inspiring leaders.

STYPED BEST PAPER AWARD 2009
The winner of the Styped Best Paper Award 2009 was: “Social Network Analysis” – Filippo Capriotti (eni e&p).

ANNUAL SOCIAL EVENT SPE YP 2010
09/09/10:  The SPE Young Professional Annual Social Event 2010 took place in the last part of the summer in an amazing location within the core of Milan “movida”. An happy hour has been organized by the SPE Young Professional on 9th September 2010 in “The Circle”, Via Stendhal 36 (Porta Genova zone). More than 120 young professionals coming from different Oil&Gas industries and service companies – some of them brand new employers or still master students – enjoyed the evening in a beautiful location with soft music and sophisticated happy hour. It has been a good opportunity for the SPE young “new entries” to know and appreciate the events organized along the 2010 by SPE Young Professional, to inform about the next events that are programmed for the future and to join the SPE. For all the participants, the Social Event has been a nice evening with colleagues and friends.

WORKSHOP
17/07/08: " Creative Workshop: Multiculturalism at work"
The team building workshop was held with the organizational development methodology Lego Serious PlayTM, which is based on the approach of “thinking with the hands”, trying to put ideas and concepts in concrete form with LEGO constructions. The objective was to compare the different points of view of participants, coming from diverse professional areas and society on the dynamics of working in a multicultural environment. ANNUAL SOCIAL EVENT SPE YP 2008
The social event took place on 20th November at “Shu”, Milan. It consists in a “happy hour night” (from 8 p.m. to……): drink, food, and good music. A wonderful moment for socializing and creating social networking. The event was organised either for who already knows our activities and who is just arrived in the Oil and Gas Business and he’s sympathizing with SPE.

STYPED BEST PAPER AWARD 2007

The winner of the Styped Best Paper Award 2007 was Francesco Verre (Agip KCO), with the article: “Water shut off treatment for horizontal wells in heavy oil reservoirs”. The second classified was Cosimo Niccolò (Eni – E&P Division): “Numerical Simularion of SAGD Thermal Oil Recovery Method for Athabasca Tar Sands. The winner received ani-pod as a prize.

STYPED BEST PAPER AWARD 2006

The winner of the Styped Best Paper Award 2006 was: “Basic Principles of simultaneous operations (SIMOPS)” – Luca Frattini (Eni E&P). The second classified was: “Full range risk analysis for reservoir evaluation” – Santo Giannone (Eni – E&P Division). The winner received an i-pod as a prize.

 ANNUAL SOCIAL EVENT SPE YP 2007

The social event took place on the 5th July at “Just Cavalli Cafè”, Milan. It consists in a “happy-hour dancing night” in one of the most elegant disco of Milan: drink, food, good music and dancing. Really a wonderful night….

WORKSHOPS

2 workshops were organized with the help of Baker Hughes experts in Employee Development:

  • Communication and Teamwork – Terry A. Lehmann (Lenna, November 2003)
  • Leadership and Teamwork – Pauletta Darilek (Vernasca, June 2004)

Subscription was required and participation was limited to about 20 people (members and non-members); the feedbacks received from the participants were enthusiastic, they are reported in detail in the STYPED bulletins 2003 Special Issue and 2_2004.

CONTINUOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM

5 events, one-hour lecture held by recognized worldwide experts followed by open discussion:

  • Directional Drilling: How? Where? When? Why? – Tom Gaynor (18th February 2004)
  • Expandable Well Technology – David Butler (3rd March 2004)
  • Impatto della Globalizzazione sul Futuro dei giovani Engineers – Giovanni Paccaloni (3rd May 2004)
  • The Challenge of Sour Oil and Gas Operations – Thomas P. Lockhart (27th May 2004)

Lectures were held at EniCorporateUniversity Conference Room in S. Donato Milanese. Participation was averaging 20-25 people (members and non-members), feedbacks were good, you can check the bulletins. Other appointments are already being scheduled for next season.

Over the 2002-2003 season 4 workshops were organized. Mr Gianni Testa from Methods held them at the 5th Office Building Conference Room in S. Donato Milanese and the following topics were faced:

  • Project Planning (March 2003)
  • Effective Presentations and Communication (May 2003)

Participation was always averaging 20-30 people (members and non-members); the feedbacks received from the participants were good and helpful in improving the STYPED events.
